Investor Spotlight: The Esmee Fairbain Foundation

Each month, an impact investor discusses with the GIIN their motivations, their impact investment strategy, and challenges they face in this growing industry. This month, we spoke to Danyal Sattar, Finance Fund Manager at Esmee Fairbairn Foundation, which is focused on improving the quality of life for people and communities in the UK both now and in the future. The Foundation invests in activities that aim to deliver both a financial return and a social benefit though its GBP 20 million finance fund. Impact investments are made to complement grant-making in the arts, education and learning, the environment, and enabling disadvantaged people to participate fully in society. Additional impact investments are made to support innovative impact investment intermediaries and to help build investment markets with clear social or environmental benefits.
