Making Local Food Work – measure your impact

The Plunkett Foundation is running a wide ranging programme called Making Local Food Work and as part of the programme they have commissioned The Guild and Middlesex University to develop a tool to help local and community food projects to measure the impact of their work.

The Guild will be hosting a half day workshop in Exeter in July for food projects (whether or not you are currently measuring impact) to test the tool, and to help you think about how you can best tell the story of what you do, to people in your community and the wider world. Jubilee People’s Millions – Dance in Devon need your vote!

Dance in Devon have been selected to be just one of 6 in the South West with a chance of scooping a share of the Jubilee People’s Millions.

The £52,000 would mean they could continue employing local dance practitioners to deliver Dance in Devon programmes for older participants, for youth dance, and for early years, for the next 12 months.

But they can’t do it without you!

SW – Advising VCS Groups on Funding Issues

Location – Calne, Wiltshire
4 day course: 12th & 13th July and 13th & 14th September 2011.

This course will give you the knowledge and skills you need to effectively advise groups on funding issues. It will also give you a recognised level 3 qualification demonstrating your competence to provide funding advice. A recent delegate on the course wrote: ‘I’d recommend the trainer as well as the course – I am now much clearer about the process of giving funding advice and am feeling far more confident when going to meet with clients!’

Is it for me?

This course is ideal for community development workers and funding advisers in the voluntary or public sectors. It is suitable for new advisers, those looking for a ‘refresher’, or experienced advisers who would like their skills recognised through a formal qualification in funding advice. All delegates must be giving advice as preparing a case study about a group you are working with is an important part of the course.

SW – Reshaping, Arts Council England event

Location – Swindon
Reshaping work will complement other initiatives of a similar nature being undertaken by other organisations including local authorities. These are intended as temporary resources which will be taken up, used, adapted and disseminated by other organisations. The work has been undertaken by West Mead Creative in partnership with Mission Models Money, The South West Forum and i-DAT Plymouth.

The Arts Council are emphasising the importance of collaboration by offering organisations the opportunity to get together at a number of events in June and July 2011 where the Arts Council will share this information and identify further needs and opportunities.
