WHAT WE VALUE >

“Every financial transaction contains the rudiments of social healing. When we wake up to this and begin to pour our spiritual capacities and values in to every transaction, the world will change for the better…We want to bring the emerging human consciousness into a responsible relationship with money and to see how we can use it to change the way the world works with money.” – Siegfried Finser, Money Can Heal

April 2011

This month we take a look at colony collapse disorder and the mysterious world of bees with an award-winning film produced by Seed Fund grantee Collective Eye.  We also discuss the effectiveness of disaster giving. Plus, RSF hosts a release party for Walk Out Walk On, an inspiring new book sharing stories of individuals rediscovering and recreating community!

RSF Hosts Walk Out Walk On Book Release

Come learn about the people authors Meg Wheatley and Deborah Frieze met in seven communities around the world who have walked out of limiting beliefs and assumptions and walked on to create healthy and resilient communities. These Walk Outs who Walk On use their ingenuity and caring to figure out how to work with what they have to create what they need…Read more in the RSF Newsroom.

BALLE’s Accelerating Community Capital Series

In our work here at RSF, we regularly meet people who are ready to see a change in our financial system and who are eager to see their money at work in their local communities. For this reason, RSF is proud to sponsor BALLE’s Accelerating Community Capital Series, consisting of monthly webinars (through December 2011) and an all-day intensive at BALLE’s Annual Conference on June 14th.

Series participants will learn about innovative strategies to:

• Connect local businesses with local lenders, investors and donors,
• Earn a “living rate of return” while supporting the local economy, and
• Create jobs by strengthening family farms, local manufacturing,
and independent business.

RSF Office Expansion!

Last month, RSF made an exciting move to expand our offices by taking over the second side of the Presidio building where we are housed. We’ve bid adieu to our former tenants, Liberty and Justice, and now have more (and more comfortable) conference rooms and workspaces to make us all the more at home, as our staff expands to meet the growing need for RSF’s work…Read the full post on the Reimagine Money blog.

Queen of the Sun

In 2009, RSF provided a Seed Fund grant to Collective Eye to produce a film exploring the world of bees and their mysterious disappearance. In an alarming inquiry into the insights behind Steiner’s prediction, QUEEN OF THE SUN: What Are the Bees Telling Us? examines the dire global bee crisis through the eyes of biodynamic beekeepers, scientists, farmers, and philosophers…Read the full post on the Reimagine Money blog.

How Effective is Disaster Giving?

The question of unrestricted gifts has been a hot topic in the field of Philanthropy. For a long time Foundations preferred to fund specific projects of non-profits, which would often leave non-profits struggling to meet their operating needs. In recent best practices documents more and more professionals have urged Foundations to make grants for general operating support. What they are discovering is that non-profits who have their organizational needs met are better at directing successful projects…Read the full post on the Reimagine Money blog.
