‘With reliable transport, almost anything is possible’

Radio 4 appeal

This Christmas, British comedian Ross Noble is making an appeal on behalf of Riders for Health. Ross has used this week’s Radio 4 appeal to highlight the need to get health workers in Africa mobile so they can reach the most isolated communities. Please join Ross and support our work to help people across Africa receive lifesaving health care.

‘I am really pleased to be supporting Riders,’ said Ross. ‘They are a dynamic and highly effective charity where you can really see the effects making an impact on people’s lives. It’s simple really: with reliable transport, almost anything is possible. Without it, almost nothing is.’

In the appeal, Ross explains how Solomon Mwembe, a Health Officer in the Binga District of Zimbabwe, is responsible for 10,000 people scattered across hundreds of miles of rough terrain.

Solomon MwembeRiders for Health recently provided Solomon and his team with motorcycles and taught them how to maintain them so that they never break down. Ross describes that in a recent outbreak of malaria the motorcycles helped Solomon to reach every village saving thousands of lives.

You can listen to Ross’s appeal now on the Radio 4 website by clicking here.
